What is The Ain?
Absolutely nothing. And that is EVERYTHING.

About 25-30 years ago, I made an appointment with an astrologer. I was curious as to what an astrologer did, and what he might have to say about me and my life.
What stood out for me was his rather exasperated exclamation:
“You have profound spiritual experiences, and you don’t tell anybody about them!”
Of course I didn’t. I didn’t have the words, and I didn’t always understand what I was experiencing, so how could I explain it to others?
It wasn’t until 2025 that the term The Un™ came to me after having tried to create the language, and having searched in vain for decades for a name to put to some of those profound, inexplicable experiences I had been having, and continue to have.
By The Un™, I mean the nothing from/as/in/of which everything is created.
The reason I use more than one preposition is that when I say nothing, I mean absolutely nothing.
And then it becomes rather complicated to explain how everything is created from it. Or as it. Or in it. Or of it. Or even by it.
Nope…
You’re starting to get my drift, right?
The term The Un™ arose suddenly in me as a representation of the experiences I have and have had when/where (yes, both of those) there is no body.
And where there is no body – in fact, no density of any kind – there is absolutely nothing.
I’m not talking about out-of-body experiences, near-death experiences, stillness, consciousness, being, transcending, meditation, astral projection etc etc etc.
And I’m not talking about dissociation, resistance or any other “I don’t want this experience” experience.
All of those experiences imply that there is a me with a body I’m still attached to in some way.
What I’m talking about is the ability to both attach and detach from any density whatsoever, including my human body. To “experience” – as paradoxical as that sounds – the absolute nothing from which everything is created. Or not created.
The Un™ is not the absence of or resistance to anything. Many people, when they hear the word “nothing,” conjure up images, thoughts or feelings of emptiness, loss, numbness, loneliness, boredom, suffering, void, lack etc.
The Un™ is nothing of the kind. All of those things are human experiences. But The Un™ is not human. The Un™ is not a thing, not form, not density. It is nothing, no thing at all. There is no experience. There can only be experience when there is density, when there is something that has been created, whether that be a thought, a feeling, a dream, a solid object, e.g. a body. So, nothing = absolutely nothing.
This can be difficult to imagine, as all human experience comes from density and assumes density. Which makes sense, because we only know existence through having a body, having a life.
The Un™ is not consciousness, awareness, presence, being, mind without thought. Those arise with the creation/existence of density. The Un™ is no one; it is nothing. And so, there is no one who is conscious, being, aware, present etc. No one to be or Be. And no presence to what is, as there is no is.
The Un™ is not God. God is often associated with human experience, e.g. God is wise, God is good, God is love, the wrath of God etc. The idea of “God loves us” is a human projection. Human beings assume someone has to do something, someone has to create something etc, and we assume that that someone has the same qualities human beings do, albeit, in God’s case, god-like, perfect etc. This also implies separateness, i.e. a separate god, and separate beings, as well. Human beings appear to be separate, so God must be separate, as well. The Un™ is none of that. The Un™ is absolutely nothing, i.e. no human qualities or characteristics at all.
There is no language, no thought, no idea, no verbal communication etc. Nothing.
Without density, there is no experience. Experience arises in connection with density, with some form or other, whether that be a thought, an idea, a feeling, a body etc. The Un™ is nothing, no thing, no density, i.e. no experience.
Let me explain using an analogy. You know how someone can say something intentionally hurtful to you, and you don’t bite? It doesn’t affect you at all? There’s something there – a comment, i.e. a creation, a density – and you don’t attach to it. Then perhaps another time, someone can say something intentionally hurtful to you, and you do react; you feel hurt. You have connected to the comment, attached to it, and then you experience a reaction. When there is no comment, there is nothing to attach to. When there is a comment, there can be attachment or no attachment. And if there is attachment, there can be detachment.
So, there is The Un™, and as nothing, something is created. There can be an attachment to the creation or not. Where there is nothing, there is no experience. Where there is something, there is experience. If I use another analogy: you have an intention to go outside, but you don’t act on it, so you don’t experience going outside. If you act on it, you do.
I’ll share another example from my direct, lived experience: I was thinking about a painful event from my past, and as I thought about it, I felt sad and hurt. I noticed the feeling intensified the more I thought about the event. Suddenly, I realized “I don’t have to have this experience.” Note: not “I don’t want this experience.” There was no resistance to it; only the realization that I didn’t have to create it. The moment I realized that, there was a disconnection from it, what I call detachment from it, and all emotions were gone. This all happened in a split second. I still recalled the event, but there was no interest in it. It was only an insignificant detail, not a pain or emotional suffering. And you know how you tend to forget insignificant details? I didn’t even have to remember the event.
With attachment to density, experience is possible. No density = no experience. The duration of attachment is up to you. If you are heavily invested in density, e.g. in some sort of judgment or interpretation of a situation, like your wanting revenge for something you judged to be wrong, your attachment will continue. You do this by e.g. believing your thoughts, judgments, assumptions, interpretations, reactions etc are truths. When you know – not just tell yourself or think – that they are just forms of density, you can easily detach from them. A reason you might invest in some form of density is the belief that you have something to learn from it or that there is a problem that must be solved. Those kinds of beliefs can keep you attached for a long time, sometimes a lifetime. The more attached you are to density, the more real it will likely seem.
In my direct experience, there is The Un™, i.e. nothing, no thing. Then there is something, e.g. a body. Then there is attachment to the body. Then there is detachment from it. I have experienced that repeatedly. This also means that there is no death. There is attachment to and detachment from the physical body, but no death.
There is also no identity. Identity is a collection of experiences, meanings etc that you have put together and call "you." Or that other people assign to you. And that identity changes depending on the situation you find yourself in, and/or who you might be with. Even when you are alone. Which means that any reference to Who You Really Are, your True Self – or indeed, any self at all – is incorrect.
The Un™ is not a who. The Un™ is that. Since everything is Un™, i.e. nothing and everything, there is only that. “Who” is a construction, a something human beings create in an attempt to make sense of their world.
Human beings want to make sense of things that appear to not make sense; hence, the tendency to explain “nothing” as something understandable to themselves, e.g. divine potential, energy, unity etc. My direct experience of The Un™ – which is also the reason I have no need for explanation nor clarification – is that there is absolutely nothing, no thing. And from absolutely nothing, there is something. To me, the term The Un™ has no content except as an indication of that nothing.
Having said that, ever since I began speaking about The Un™, I have encountered other people who have not been able to grasp what I’m talking about, people who have confused it with something else or who have felt it necessary to add something or create an entirely different meaning when referring to The Un™. Indeed, for some, they equate The Un™ with the prefix “un” meaning not or opposite. For example, when I referred to myself as The UnCoach™, they took it to mean that I was protesting against coaching in the familiar sense.
As I have said that my way of coaching does not fit the familiar paradigm, for lack of a better word, it has been easily misconstrued to mean that I am protesting against it; however, that is not the case. I coach about The Un™ and from the perspective of The Un™, the no thing. This means that my sessions offer an environment where it is possible for clients to not be swayed by apparent identity content. This does not mean that I am in opposition of regular coaching.
Once I realized this kind of misunderstanding was occurring, and knowing that I have infinite possibilities, I decided to see if I could find something that might alleviate the confusion. On 7 April 2026, I discovered the existence of the ancient word, Ain (pronounced Ah-een).
According to Spanish poet and philosopher Solomon ibn Gabirol (ca. 1021–1070), Ain represents the nothing that precedes everything. As far as I’m concerned, Ain most closely resembles my description of The Un™ without it being confused with the prefix “un”.
Ain can be compared with such philosophical concepts as Wu (from Daoism), Śūnyatā (Sanscrit, from Buddhism), Nichts (Meister Eckhart), and Nada (John of the Cross); however, none of these compare accurately enough with Ain, which is closest in proximity to my use of The Un™.
I have, therefore, chosen to refer to The Ain in an attempt to clear up, even avoid, some of the confusion in connection with interpretations of and meanings other people have assigned to the term The Un™. In other words, in the interest of clarity, though it might seem to complicate: I use The Ain / Ain and The Un™ / Un™ interchangeably, and I refer to myself as The AinCoach™.
On first contact with The Ain / Ain, some people read it as ein, i.e. as if it rhymes with train, vein, lane etc. What's fun is that the word ein means "none, there is not / there is no." So when people inadvertently mispronounce Ain, it can help them. The same letters in Ain are also in Ani, which means "I /me." Put Ain (Ah-een mispronounced as ein) together with Ani – Ain Ani – and you have "no me", there is no me.
